Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon is suing the owners of HomeSmartz Mortage in St. Joseph for allegedly scamming homeowners facing foreclosure, charging fees greatly in excess of the 10% allowed by Missouri law for “foreclosure consultants” and fraudulently obtaining warranty deeds claiming they were “second mortgages”.
